This $89 million dollar project includes a 4-story addition to the Atrium Health Cabarrus (Concord, N.C.) along with $16 million of infrastructure upgrades for the Hospital campus. The first floor is shared by the Cardiology and Interventional Radiology departments, and includes Cath Labs, IR Labs, EP Labs and Pre/Post bays. Diagnostic Cardiology and Nuclear Medicine also serve this floor. Patient wings total 60 patients of varying acuity on the second and third Floors, a Mechanical Level is located on the fourth floor, and there is a half basement for utilities and bed storage. The bed tower is designed as a high-rise to add three additional floors in the future. The addition ties into two existing buildings on the campus and includes additional connectors on levels 3 and 4. The project is phased to provide minimum disruption to the Hospital, including keeping the main connecting corridor functional throughout construction. The architectural and interior design team used 3D modeling and renderings to present the design to staff and administration throughout the design process. New furniture and a mixture of original and poster artwork completed the project.
