A contest launched to give NHS organisations an opportunity to gain access to the award-winning Low Carb Program is soon ending.
Type 2 Diabetes Remission Accelerator, Powered by the Low Carb Program, was developed by Ascensia Diabetes Care and NHS trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS medical practices have until July 10 to enter.
The online platform, which is used by more than 400,000 people worldwide, has been shown to improve HbA1c and glycemic control, lead to weight loss and reduce medications as well as having the potential to put type 2 diabetes into remission.
A panel of independent NHS specialists will judge the entries. They are looking for evidence to suggest that applicants have an implementation plan which will identify, engage with and initiate people onto the low carb initiative.
Applicants, as well as fulfilling other criteria, will also have to prove they are fully committed to evaluating the results of those who are given access to the program.
On launching the competition, Ros Barker, Ascensias Country Head UK and Ireland, said: “Ascensia Diabetes Care is committed to ensuring the Low Carb Program is available across the UK and we hope that this competition will ignite the interest of primary care professionals across the country on the opportunity for type 2 diabetes remission.
“By entering this competition from Ascensia, you have the chance to trial the programme with your patients with type 2 diabetes for free and see the difference it can make to them. The Low Carb Program can revolutionise our approach to supporting people with type 2 diabetes, giving them the possibility of putting their condition into remission”.
