This Diabetes Week, Diabetes Digital Media is redefining diabetes: redefining what people with diabetes can achieve, and raising awareness of the tremendous health transformations and success stories worldwide.
On Tuesday we paid tribute to members of the Diabetes Forum who have made gains towards improving their health, such as losing weight and increasing their mobility, and decreasing blood glucose levels from the type 2 diabetes range into the prediabetes range.
Were continually in awe of the success stories on the Forum, and we’re sharing some more today.
Over 300,000 members use the Forum, which in 2017 was shown to “empower members” following a Royal Holloway, University of London study.
It was the weight loss stories from people on the Forum five years ago which inspired the creation of Diabetes Digital Media’s award-winning Low Carb Program, and the success stories have continued to this day.
That user has now been taken off metformin by his doctor and hopes to be able to permanently come off medication.
Another Forum user recently made low carb food changes to improve her blood glucose levels and has experienced improvements to her eye condition.
She wrote, “My doctor said to keep doing what youre doing and asked what are you doing to keep your levels that good?” So I told him, he was quite impressed with low carb food changes Ive been making. And my eyesight is sharper than his!”
We were also pleased to read one user’s post who after returning from holiday received a message from his practice nurse was told he no longer had type 2 diabetes.
