A West Midlands-based centre is helping to introduce “right mindfulness” to tackle rising levels of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and stress.

Six years ago The Flame, Coventry’s Mindfulness, Holistic and Wellness centre, launched an international initiative which is now in its sixth year.

The Flame’s unique approach to host city-wide mindfulness events has now expanded to leading international annual mindfulness events at Coventry Cathedral. The flame centre has introduced “right mindfulness” to well over 14,500  people over the past five years through regular classes, courses, workshops and retreats.

Additionally, The Flame provides FREE ongoing support to residents of Coventry by offering mindfulness sessions every week from Coventry Central Library.

Mindfulness and Extraordinary Experiences is the sixth successive mindfulness event which aims to build on the resounding success of the previous five events: Mindfulness at Coventry Cathedral in 2013; Mindfulness & Compassion at Coventry Cathedral in 2014; Mindfulness and Neuroscience in 2015; Mindfulness and Personal Transformation in 2016; and Mindfulness and Spiritual intelligence 2017,  which was attended by over 900 individuals.

This year’s event focuses on creating an interactive experience to highlight the nature of extraordinary experiences associated with mindfulness meditation. The impact of mindfulness on stress, depression and anxiety is now well researched, verified and established. What is much less well-known is the impact of mindfulness and ‘extraordinary experiences’.

Extraordinary experiences refer to telepathy, clairvoyance, clairaudience, destruction of “defiling impulses” (destructive tendencies), predictive dreams, healing or spiritual experiences and such like. Recent research has confirmed significant relationships between PSI and meditation, over 60% of meditators report extra ordinary experiences, about 50% report telepathy or clairvoyance and almost 60% endorsed these events as being meaningful for them.

The event will include expert guest Dr. Jessica Bockler, PhD, an applied performance artist and transpersonal psychologist with a passionate interest in expressive arts and sacred ritual for consciousness evolution. Jessica leads Creative Alternatives, an arts and mental health service which operates in Merseyside, UK. She is also a Founding Director of the Alef Trust, a global learning provider which offers education programmes in consciousness studies, spirituality and transpersonal.

Dav Panesar, one of the pioneers of mindfulness-based intervention in health and personal development, will explore the understandings of extraordinary experiences associated with meditation and support required for those practicing mindfulness.

In addition, the event includes real life case studies sharing their transformational experiences, challenges and discovering solutions. Plus live music with the Belles of Three Spires and a rare glimpse into classical indiginious music . The highlight of the event will be a collective Mindfulness and Compassion-based meditation.

Ms Sonia Sanghera of The Flame said: “We are overwhelmed at the success and support for the events and the impact of this event on the health, mental and physical health of individuals.”.

Every year The Flame gives people the chance to be part of a unique and rewarding experience. The event offers individuals a chance to transform their life with right-mindfulness-based practices. It is a privilege to be able to host these events, especially at such a prestigious and iconic venue like Coventry Cathedral, and to have leading world experts and pioneers”.

Mindfulness & Extraordinary Experiences will be held on the 6th October 2018  at 18.00pm – 21.00pm in the world renowned Coventry Cathedral. Tickets can be purchased here.
