Definitive Healthcare, a healthcare data firm, has acquired HIMSS Analytics’ data services business. These assets include HIMSS Analytics’ Logic, Predict, Analyze and custom research tools.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Through the transaction, Definitive plans to boost its market intelligence platform. The Framingham, Massachusetts-based company will integrate the acquired assets into its platform, and the new offering will include better IT purchasing intelligence.

“HIMSS Analytics has developed an extraordinarily powerful dataset including technology install data and purchasing contracts among other leading intelligence that, when combined with Definitive Healthcare’s proprietary healthcare provider data, will create a truly best-in-class solution for our client base,” Definitive founder and CEO Jason Krantz said in a statement.

Founded in 2011, Definitive Healthcare provides healthcare organizations with information on hospitals, physicians and other facilities. Customers can access data on 8,800 hospitals and integrated delivery networks, 150,000 physician groups, 1 million physicians, 14,000 imaging centers and more. The goal is to allow clients to adequately research the provider market.

HIMSS Analytics is a healthcare advisor that offers intelligence solutions and assessment tools to help clients improve their IT decision-making process. The organization, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of HIMSS, seeks to aid hospitals as they track their EHR utilization goals.

According to a news release, HIMSS Analytics executive vice president Blain Newton said his organization “identified Definitive Healthcare as the ideal strategic buyer early in the process.”
