When healthcare providers were forced to rapidly scale telemedicine offerings following the onset of the coronavirus last year, patients were given more options than ever before on how they could access healthcare.

On the surface, this seems like good news. But for some, who lack the technical knowhow or don’t fully understand how to access these options, these expanded options may leave patients confused, overwhelmed, or just stressed. A new report from Bright.MD emphasizes that to optimize the patient experience, hospital websites need to to make it as easy as possible for patients to access the kind of care they want—whether that’s in person, via video, or asynchronous, according to their healthcare needs.

“When patients can easily access the care they want from a single source (rather than piecemealing it amongst service providers that meet their needs for convenience and affordability) their care continuum stays intact and they see better health outcomes. But that means services delivered within one provider network must be interoperable as well,” the report notes.
