The tool from Artifact is a platform that streamlines the physician query process. Rather than the traditionally time-consuming query process, the startup’s solution allows doctors to quickly respond to a query.
The HIPAA-compliant, cloud-based offering lets physicians respond to CDI and coding queries. Users can manage a shared template library to ensure all queries are compliant and send leadership query metric reports. Doctors can respond to queries from their smartphone or computer and have the option to choose how they want to receive query notifications.
Artifact said its solution can integrate with EHR systems like Epic and Cerner. The Colorado company integrated its tool with Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall’s existing Meditech EMR.
“Artifact rose to the occasion when we requested that their solution be implemented in four weeks,” Glynis Cowart, director of information technology for MSLC, said in a news release.
Ultimately, the goals of the tool are to reduce administrative burnout on physicians, improve the quality of patient records and ensure reimbursement for services.
“Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall is committed to quality improvement and Artifact’s technology gives us the opportunity to grow and scale our clinical documentation improvement efforts reaching all of our providers, employed and non-employed, with an easier and more efficient way of handling documentation clarification requests,” MSLC CFO Tom Gibney said in a statement.
As for Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall, the hospital teamed up with DrFirst, a vendor focused on e-prescribing and clinical data sharing, last year to improve provider collaboration. By utilizing tools from DrFirst, MSLC sought to help providers exchange patient medication history information and facilitate referrals, among other capabilities.
