Sick of bicep curls? Tired of treadmills? Bored by chest day? Well, we have a new full-body workout for you to try. Although, you will need an axe, a log of wood, a chainsaw and supervision from a professional.
Welcome to the world of Timberports, which, to explain it in its basic terms, is a sport that pits athlete lumberjacks against each other in a battle to see who can saw, chop and chainsaw their way through various logs of wood in the fastest possible time.
If that sounds bizarre to you, you’re right, it is. But if it also sounds like an awful lot of fun, then you’re also right, it is.
But it’s not as niche as you might think. Timbersports is the second longest running show on ESPN and is watched by more than 20 million people worldwide. So, to see just how much of a workout you can get from sawing wood, we sent our Digital Writer, Daniel Davies, to Liverpool’s Echo Arena to try Timbersports for himself. Check out the video above to see how he handles his axe.
To see the professionals in action, the Timbersports World Championships will be held at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on October 19 and 20. Tickets are available here.
