Rochester, Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic has collaborated with GIBLIB, a Los Angeles-based media platform offering on-demand medical lectures and surgical videos.
Through their joint effort, the organizations will host educational videos and promote new content on the GIBLIB platform for all medical specialties.
More specifically, GIBLIB will put Mayo Clinic’s medical conference lectures online so they’re available to medical professionals. Additionally, Mayo and GIBLIB plan to create and produce videos, including 360-degree virtual reality footage featuring Mayo’s teaching faculty. GIBLIB will also utilize user data analytics to pinpoint the most engaging videos and decide on the focus areas of future content.

Through the new relationship, Mayo gets a seat on GIBLIB’s board of directors.
In addition to joining forces with Mayo Clinic, GIBLIB, which launched in 2016, produces exclusive content in partnership with organizations like Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Stanford Children’s Hospital. The Los Angeles company’s offerings include an app that allows users to watch surgical videos on an Oculus VR headset.
This isn’t the first time Mayo has teamed up with a company working in the virtual reality space.
Last fall, it revealed a three-year alliance with FundamentalVR, a London-based organization with a virtual reality training and data analysis technology platform. The entities will jointly develop surgical VR simulation and education products. FundamentalVR can leverage the expertise of Mayo Clinic’s surgeons, data scientists and clinical research.
