Medicine Hat Regional Hospital in southern Alberta, Canada, has completed a 245,000-square-foot ambulatory care building. The regional hospital serves a catchment area of 120,000 people and has 325 beds.
The expansion provides 40 new outpatient treatment spaces, which will help the organization address wait times for key services, and is designed to improve the patient experience by creating an environment that’s welcoming and stress free.
Renovations to the emergency department in the adjacent patient tower are ongoing and will be completed in 2020. Gibbs Gage Architects (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and Diamond Schmitt Architects (Toronto) are overseeing both projects.
