Would you and your organization like to use your skills and expertise to help defeat rare diseases? On October 9, the Rare Disease Drug Repurposing Datathon is launching, offering data scientists a special opportunity to work together to uncover insights on rare conditions like chronic pancreatitis, Meniere’s disease, retinitis pigmentosa and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

In conjunction with our work with the Pistoia Alliance, the global partnership of commercial and academic groups working to lower barriers to innovation, Elsevier is providing Datathon participants with datasets relevant to the above-mentioned diseases. Participating teams will be utilizing the cutting-edge Entellect life sciences platform, which delivers connected and AI-ready data by linking and enriching disparate content against established life science taxonomies.

The work generated by participants in the Datathon will be passed on to Cures Within Reach, to benefit their efforts in drug repurposing for rare diseases. Cures Within Reach is a non-profit dedicated to alleviating suffering and bringing hope to those dealing with life-threatening illness, and inspiring and funding researchers with innovative ideas.
