Taylor Design, an employee-owned architecture, interior design and design strategy firm, is expanding its Los Angeles presence with the hiring of healthcare design professional Daniel Ortega, AIA, to head the new downtown L.A. office.
Ortega is a veteran Healthcare Market Sector leader in Los Angeles, with a career that includes more than 30 years of experience working with the California Office of Statewide Healthcare Planning and Development (OSHPD). He brings a background in design coupled with an in-depth knowledge of project management and advanced team-building skills, a combination that meshes perfectly with Taylor Design’s approach to project delivery.
Ortega’s experience encompasses a wide variety of healthcare project types, including medical center master planning, assisted living, acute care facility remodels, medical education and conference centers, medical office buildings, outpatient clinics and surgery centers, and laboratories.
Ortega holds a Bachelor of Architecture from California State University at Pomona, and also studied Urban Design at the Polytechnic University in Athens, Greece. He has completed successful projects for numerous clients, including Kaiser Permanente, Cigna Health Plan, Providence St John’s Health Center, L.A. County, Cedars Sinai and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Most recently, he was the recipient of a Design Excellence Award for a Behavioral Health facility which was designed for Kaiser Permanente.
