Perkins and Will has officially topped off the University of Oklahoma Medical Center (OUMC) in Oklahoma City, Okla. The OUMC renovation broke ground in November 2017. As the only Level I trauma center in the state of Oklahoma, OUMC consistently receives an acute volume of patients that would exceed its original capacity.
To continue serving demand with efficiency, the hospital tapped the Dallas studio of Perkins and Will to expand their existing facilities with a 401,900-square-foot patient tower that significantly expands surgical, critical care, and med/surg capacity. The firm was also in charge of renovating 96,900 square feet of existing facility space.
Perkins and Will was able to add 32 new operating rooms—with 14 new on the second floor and 18 new on the third floor of the new patient tower. OUMC will maintain four of its existing trauma operating rooms, bringing total operating rooms to 36.
