The majority of Americans get private insurance through their employers, making employer plans a crucial segment for digital health providers to win over.
Darcy Sementi is the healthcare benefits manager with insurance company State Farm where she oversees medical, dental, life, vision, and AD&D benefits for employees and their agent population. In a video testimonial, she explained that State Farm has a longstanding relationship with Teladoc Health. Sementi said the mental health and general medicine resources it offers has led to high adoption by State Farm’s membership.
Sementi said the company welcomed the opportunity to partner with Teladoc Health through its virtual primary care platform Primary360.
Ease of use and an integrated, positive member experience on Primary360 has led to an increase in the number of State Farm members that have a primary care relationship through Teladoc Health, Sementi said
“It surpasses other experiences we have had. We have seen a high level of adoption from our membership.”
Sementi also pointed out that the user interface has drawn more members from its ranks — something most digital health benefit providers seek to do but often fail to achieve.
“The whole-person journey is important to us. From a benefits perspective we’re, to some extent, piecemealing together these solutions that help solve some individual problems. But we know that most of our members suffer from polychronic solutions, so it’s not just one thing they are battling or that they need help with, or that needs to be addressed.”
She added that the comprehensive solutions Teladoc Health offers increase the likelihood that the complexity of the self-insured employer’s members and their health are going to be addressed in a comprehensive fashion.
By simplifying its interface and how employees access its healthcare services, Teladoc Health is increasing engagement, which could help employers reduce healthcare costs. It will continue to add self-insured employers seeking to achieve similar goals among their members.
