Systematic review of the available literature from clinical trials is important for collecting evidence for existing and new patient care practices. With the ever-increasing amount of literature around this, it becomes important to design literature searches that ensure no important safety signal is missed.

As the world’s most comprehensive and up-to-date biomedical literature database, Embase pioneers the narrowing down of the vast and latest literature into meaningful and relevant results, helping institutions and professionals advance healthcare for the benefit of humanity.

As a result of a successful collaboration between Elsevier and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Embase will be adding new Traditional Chinese Medicine taxonomy to its thesaurus tool Emtree in its upcoming January 2020 release. This will facilitate standardized searches on Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts in Embase and thus finding the best available evidence for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

With a focus on promoting the concept of evidence-based medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is organizing an Evidence based medicine training and seminar in Beijing on January 10-12, 2020. This event will include a two-day GRADE training workshop, followed by a seminar on Evidence-Based Medicine.

Elsevier is a proud sponsor and participant in the event. Dr. Iveta Petrova, Embase Lead Product Manager, will be presenting the outcomes of this collaboration, and will introduce the TCM addition to Emtree and standard taxonomies facilitating evidence-based medicine retrieval and appraisal.

We are excited to be part of this international forum and look forward to further developing a deeper understanding of the evidence, together with the distinguished experts from the field of evidence-based medicine.
