Finally, something that the UK can agree on: ‘Mayochup’ — a hyrbid of ketchup and mayonnaise — is finally making its way to the UK after a heated vote.

Taking to Twitter, Heinz published a poll on September 20th to determine whether ‘Mayochup’, only previously available in the Middle East and, now more recently, in the US, should deserve a place on UK supermarket shelves.

The results came in thick and fast. On Heinz’s Twitter poll, over 60,000 condiment fans voted with a resounding ‘Yes, bring it on!’ for ‘Mayochup’ to launch in the UK.

In the weeks previous to the UK poll, ‘Mayochup’ was launched in the US, with a divisive reaction among Americans. The UK, quite rightly, wanted in on the action too and now it’s finally happening.

Mary-Rose sauce, this is not. With condiment fans confused at Heinz’s chosen consistency of ‘Mayochup’, Martina Davis, senior brand manager for Heinz, told HuffPost UK “Mayochup is a mix of the flavours of tomato ketchup and mayonnaise. “

“The recipe for Mayochup will be perfected by our culinary experts and research teams once we know if the UK public would like to see Mayochup here in the UK.”
