Premier, the Charlotte, North Carolina-based company that began life as a group purchasing organization has been helping health systems and hospitals to team up and get better prices for a variety of hospital equipment and services. The public company is known for its ability to help health systems optimize their supply chains.
So when Atrium Health and Advocate Aurora Health announced that they would be combining forces earlier this month, Mike Alkire, CEO of Premier, and I talked about what this latest consolidation means for the industry.
