Pana Community Hospital, Pana, Ill., has completed Phase II of their Building Expansion Project. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) inspected the project last week and gave it the official “Certificate of Occupancy.” The front and emergency entrances opened to the public on Monday, Jan. 13. FastCare will not offer services until next month. The Emergency Department and FastCare will now share the same walk-in entrance.

Front parking also opened Monday with overflow patient parking available. The rear entrance of the hospital that has been used as a “temporary entrance” for the past year and will now be closed to patients.

Phase II of the project began in February 2019 immediately following the opening of the Outpatient Services addition. The new addition includes a reception area, registration offices and FastCare.

On Aug. 10, 2017, the hospital broke ground on what is one of the largest building projects it has ever undertaken. The nearly $20.4 million dollar project added 30,000 square feet to the hospital. The Building Project was designed in two phases. Phase I, or the Patient Services addition, created additional space for a new surgical suite, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, cardiopulmonary, materials management and nutritional services including the Harvest Café. Phase II has now added a new front reception area, registration, FastCare, and many other upgrades and renovations to the existing hospital.
